HOW IT WORKS?
MECHANISM OF ACTION: The sulfa to be potentiated with trimethoprim has a bactericidal effect because sequentially inhibit enzymes in the pathway of folic acid and thus inhibit bacterial synthesis of thymidine (one nucleoside DNA). Sulfa blocks the conversion of PABA (PABA) to dihydrofolate acid (ADF). Trimethoprim blocks the conversion of ADF to tetrahydrofolic acid by inhibiting dihydrofolate reductase.
WHEN TO USE IT?
INDICATIONS: It is indicated in the treatment of urinary tract infections, acute respiratory tract infections, acute infections of the digestive tract, prostatitis, meningitis, microsporidiasis, coccidiosis, toxoplasmosis; as antimicrobial prophylaxis in immunosuppressed patients of dogs and cats; in bacterial complications in the initial phase of canine distemper.
HOW SHOULD I APPLY?
DOSE:
Canines: 5 ml per 16 kg body weight, every 12 hours for 5 days.
Cats: 1.5 ml per 5 kg body weight, every 12 hours for 5 days.
ABOUT TRIMELER SUSPENSION:
Synergy and potentiation by the combination of cotrimoxazole ensures a bactericidal action against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including penicillinase-producing bacteria. The components affecting purine synthesis and nucleic acids of the bacteria in different ways, resulting in double lock.
